School Visits

The Danny Baker Record Breaker series is aimed at ages 7-12.

• Sessions based around the themes of the books, namely: Record-breaking (obviously!), family, friendships, striving to achieve, fun with words, letter-writing, surnames and place names.

• Creative writing – ideas, story structure, characterisation, adding tension, using words imaginatively.

• General talk about being a writer: where my ideas come from, how and why I write, the process of getting a book published, from scribbled notes to actual book (including my hand-written notes, early drafts, late drafts, proof-copies, and finished product).

All my school and library visits include readings from the Danny Baker Record Breaker books.  

I would (of course!) be happy to arrange for a local bookseller to provide copies of my books to sign on the day. If you want to do this, could you prepare the children and their parents in advance, explaining a little about the books, and either arranging for the books to be purchased before the visit, or making sure anyone who wants to buy one brings their pocket-money with them. I understand completely if you don’t want to do this, but please let me know beforehand.

I am a member of the Society of Authors, and my fees are based on their recommended rates.
